Fred Couples cool mixes with hard-core research in the Ecco Biom Hybrid
ECCO MADE a big splash a couple of years ago with the Street, a shoe that Fred Couples wore to stroll the fairways but also could be worn off the course. For a follow-up the company combined the look and sole of the Street with its performance-based Biom. The designers started by scanning 2,500 real feet, to chart their most common characteristics, then built an insert to match. The resulting shoe has a low profile, which keeps a golfer closer to the ground for better balance and stability. That profile combined with the shape of the shoe encourages wearers to land more toward the middle of the foot than heel, which the company says is a more natural gait.
The outsole is made of a hard plastic and 100 traction bars that create 800 traction angles.
