Running Backs

Last year as a rookie Hunter ably stepped in while Frank Gore battled injuries, averaging 5.2 yards per touch from scrimmage. This year will be a bit trickier for Hunter, as San Francisco added both Brandon Jacobs and LaMichael James to the backfield. Hunter may end up being more of a special teams player and kickoff return man with little fantasy value.

After three seasons off the grid McClain has a chance to regain some relevance. He should assume a portion of the 175 touches left behind by Mike Tolbert, spelling the oft-injured and fumble-prone Ryan Mathews and taking some short-yardage carries. McClain had 902 rushing yards and 10 TDs for the Ravens in 2008, so the track record is there to be more than a blocker.
