Jordan, a third-grader at the California Montessori Project, swam 1.5 miles from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco's Crissy Beach to become, at nine years and 138 days, the youngest female to complete the course. She finished the Orca Alcatraz Swim Challenge in 54:27 and raised $3,120 for the Nothing But Nets campaign—inspired by a 2006 Rick Reilly column in SI—that donates mosquito nets for Africans.

AUSTIN KAFENTZIS

SANDY, UTAH > TRACK AND FIELD, FOOTBALL

Austin, a freshman at Jordan High, won the Class 5A javelin title with a 199' 5 ¾" throw to set an all-class Utah record. As a quarterback last fall, he threw for 3,188 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for 1,377 yards and 23 scores to lead the Beetdiggers to the state semifinals. The only ninth-grader to make Utah's all-state football list, Austin was named the MaxPreps national freshman of the year.

DREW JACKSON

TYRONE, GA. > LACROSSE

Drew, a junior midfielder and a captain at Woodward Academy, scored a school-record 134 goals this season, the most by any girl named to Georgia's first-team all-state roster. She was also named a U.S. Lacrosse All-America for the second straight year. Drew, who holds 14 team records and played in this year's Under Armour Underclassmen Elite Stars tournament, has verbally committed to USC.
