Titleist's new Velocity was built for speed, but it has feel too
WHEN DEVELOPING its newest ball, Titleist set out with a simple goal: Create the fastest solid core ever. Mission accomplished. The benefit of all that speed off the clubface is added distance, but because the ball has a relatively soft compression of 90—the same as the Pro V1—the Velocity still provides feel and spin around the greens. The outer shell, which also uses technology developed on the Pro V1, enhances aerodynamics and flexibility. The best part? The Velocity costs $35 a dozen.
The cover's NaZ2 surlyn ionomer blend helps generate spin on short shots but has enough hardness to aid distance.
The core features a new polybutadiene-based compound that rebounds off objects at high speed.
