I am no fan of Tim McCarver the announcer. Still, I consider him to be a baseball legend and a true gentleman. A couple of years ago, the MLB Network aired an interview featuring McCarver and his longtime Cardinals teammate Bob Gibson. I was astonished by the generosity, affection and respect that McCarver showed Gibson. Not once did he attempt to detract from Gibson's accomplishments and make himself the focus of the interview. While it's easy to chide McCarver for his irritating on-air persona, he appears to be a stand-up guy.

Not Just a Fantasy
I agree with Steve Rushin's opinion on the hypocrisy that surrounds sports gambling (POINT AFTER). Nevertheless, he failed to mention one of the most popular avenues for sports gambling that has swept the country in recent years: fantasy sports. Tens of millions of dollars are wagered every year by fans competing in fantasy leagues in various sports.
