My Bag . . . Team Dye

Pete and Alice Dye are the First Couple of golf-course design, having produced dozens of famous (some would say infamous) layouts, including the Stadium course at Sawgrass. When=they're not laying down railroad ties (they're currently working on two projects, redesigns of Gulf Stream (Fla.) Golf Club and the Keswick Club in Charlottesville, Va.), they like to get out and play. Pete tees it up once a week, and at age 87 he still occasionally breaks 80. Alice, 86, a top amateur for years who played on the 1970 Curtis Cup team and twice won the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur ('78 and '79), plays twice a week and almost always breaks her age. How have they fared on their most notorious creation? Pete says he shot a 71 or 72 years ago (at least 15) on the Stadium course, while Alice (who dreamed up the 17th's island green) hasn't played it since she and Pete opened the course by taking a loop with Deane Beman. She doesn't remember her exact score, but she knows she broke 80.

Alice opts for roughly drawn geometric shapes, but she makes each one different so that if she has to hit a provisional, she'll be able to tell which was the first shot and which was the second. Do the designs look like island greens?
