Fade to Black
TAYLORMADE HAS A COLOR CHANGE
Sales have skyrocketed since TaylorMade moved to white-headed woods in 2011. Nevertheless, some golfers won't try a club based on the color, so the company has turned back the clock with a black driver. The fully loaded, adjustable R1 Black has the same bells and whistles as the original R1 in a more sedate package. The only real difference is the paint job. Both versions are adjustable for loft (8° to 12°), face angle (4° open to 4° closed) and shot shape (removable one-gram and 10-gram weights in the heel and toe). Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Brian Gay and Peter Hanson are among the Tour players who have had the club in their bags. Available in limited quantities: $299.
