Recent Triple Crown Near Misses

On June 7 Big Brown (shown at left leading the Preakness) took his shot at becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. In addition to a field of challengers, Big Brown also came nose-to-nose with a sordid history of horses who won the Crown's first two jewels, only to be foiled in the Belmont Stakes.
