BOWLING—FRED CONNER of Mar Vista, Calif. defeated Paul Moser 191-180 in the final game to win the $60,000 Waukegan Open by 12 pins. It was Conner's first victory on the PBA tour.

BASEBALL—Chao-Min Pan struck out 13 to lead Taiwan to an 11-1 victory over Danville, Calif. and its second straight Little League World Series title, its seventh in 10 years, at Williamsport, Pa.

BOATING—BILL MUNCEY, piloting Atlas Van Lines, averaged 104.168 miles per hour and won the $110,000 unlimited hydroplane Gold Cup at Owensboro, Ky. (page 22).
