Kostelic wins eighth World Cup slalom
Janica Kostelic closed in on the overall World Cup title with a record-equaling eighth straight slalom victory at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. The teenage Croatian, who has won every World Cup slalom this season, trailed Anja Paerson after the first leg, but was never under pressure after the Swede crashed out on her second run, leaving Kostelic to extend her lead over Austrian all-rounder Renate Goetschel to 117 points.
