John Mullin, better known by longtime nickname "Moon" through much of the football world, covered the Chicago Bears from the closing days of the 1985 era and the farewells of Mike Ditka and many of his players through the Lovie Smith years, first for the Daily Herald and most recently for the Chicago Tribune as well various national publications. He has won numerous awards from the Pro Football Writers of America in addition to an Emmy award for his "Bears Insider" segment of the FOX-TV Bears pregame show. Mullin's writing has been nationally syndicated and he is the author of four books, including "The Rise and Self-Destruction of the Greatest Football Team in History: The Chicago Bears and Super Bowl XX." Mullin, with an undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton and graduate degree from Xavier University, is a devout long-distance bicyclist and performing guitarist who routinely inspires "Play louder!" calls from audiences by singing. Mullin lives in the north suburbs of Chicago.
