Luke Winn joined SPORTS ILLUSTRATED in 2002 and is now a senior writer for SI.com and SI. He primarily covers college basketball, but has dabbled in everything from the Olympics to the legacy of Ken Griffey Jr.'s 1989 Upper Deck rookie card. His weekly Power Rankings, which blend advanced statistical analysis with commentary and original graphics, are his signature column and a must-read for college hoops fans. Winn's magazine and online stories have earned seven best-writing awards from the U.S. Basketball Writers' Association since 2009 (for features, enterprise, columns and game coverage), and he received Time Inc.'s Henry R. Luce Award for his Olympics Blog.
Winn grew up in Fort Atkinson, Wis., and attended Northwestern University, where he graduated with a B.S. in journalism in 2002. He interned at the Wisconsin State Journal, Chicago Tribune and SI.com (formerly CNNSI.com) while in college. He started his SI career as an online college sports producer one month after graduation, and has been with the company ever since.
