Reactions: Women's tourney changes Users share their ideas to increase coveragePosted: Monday April 03, 2000 12:12 PM After some prominent women's basketball coaches gave their thoughts on ways to improve the tournament, CNNSI.com users logged on to give their ideas. A selection of some of the most interesting answers follow: Enough recognition? How about any recognition? SI doesn't even know that the women also have a Final Four since the April 3 edition of SI only covered the men.
We don't have cable and I resent the fact that the men's NCAA games have priority over prime time shows. At least the final UConn vs. Tennessee women's game should get its own prime time recognition. ESPN is not all that and there are many people who have been and will be unable to watch the games.
YES! Seperating the women's and the men's NCAA Tourney games would make a world of difference. I suggest a two week time frame separation. Move the women's tourney UP two weeks. Ladies go first.
I think that Pat Summit just wants to get more practice for her Lady Vols. But I also think that it is a good idea to get practice time for the championship game. She is a really good coach. I think even if the game is not postponed the Vols will win. Another thing they could do for the championship game is that they get some of the men's teams for a halftime game or have them support the women on commercials.
