Reactions: WNBA Draft CNNSI.com users debate Cleveland's No. 1 pickPosted: Monday April 24, 2000 03:05 PM
The 2000 WNBA draft is Tuesday, April 25. The Cleveland Rockers have the first pick. Here are some reactions from CNNSI.com users as to how the Rockers should use their first selection: The Rockers need post player with rebounding ability. Drafting a local star would also help attendance at home games.
I think the Rockers should choose Felecity Willis from Arizona. She has an awesome up-tempo game and handles the ball the best I've ever seen! She also takes tons and tons of charges which help a lot in scoring-wise for the other teams! If they don't choose her, I don't know what they expect of any top-notch player in the country or out of the country!
The Cleveland Rockers should select Tamicha Jackson. Her & Merlakia Jones in the backcourt would be the start of something great!
The Cleveland Rockers should chooseE Helen Darling because she loves the game and plays with all her heart and soul. When you play like this you will always find yourself in the winners circle. She can be a boost to any club. She has the personality that can be contagious and the whole team will become winners just by Helen's leadership capabilities.
Stacy Frese has much to offer the Rockers. She's obviously a team player and would be a great compliment to McConnel-Serio. She can shoot, too!
I think Phylesha Whaley from Oklahoma would be a great choice. she's tough, versatile, and helped build that program back into the top 25. She hasn't gotten a lot of recognition, but she's one of the top players in the nation.
Summer Erb: The girl is huge. She was such a factor for the young Wolfpack team this year that they achieved their highest ranking ever (4th). But without her, the team stunk and lost in the first round of the NCAA tourney! Despite the fact she only averaged 14 pts this year, she was picked as first-team all-ACC and All-American. Maylana Martin coulnd't do it at all this year so she slides to #2.
