Reactions: Trinidad vs. Vargas

CNNSI.com users have no clear favorite

Felix Trinidad and Fernando Vargas Felix Trinidad (left) is currently a 7-5 favorite to win Saturday night's bout. Allsport

Felix Trinidad and Fernando Vargas will face off on Saturday in what may prove to be a boxing classic. We asked CNNSI.com users who will come out on top in the fight. Here is a sample of the response we received:

Fernando Vargas is a great fighter, and I have a lot of respect for him. But I don't think he can beat Felix Trinidad. Trinidad has the experience, the boxing skills and the punching power over Vargas. To this day people still have doubts about Trinidad, a fighter that has been a champion for many years. My take is Trinidad will knock out Vargas before the 10th round.
Carlos Guerrido Sr., Middletown, N.Y.

Vargas has more heart as well as a better chin. Trinidad is way overrated. Vargas by knock out in the fifth round.
Carlos Villareal, El Paso, Texas

Well, I think Trinidad is going to try to give Vargas one hell off a fight. But he will notice through the rounds that he will not be able to withstand the power of a young Vargas. Trinidad has quick punch that can surprise a guy, but he will not surprise Vargas. Tito is going to be the one who is in for a big old surprise believe that. Look out for that left Trinidad -- s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e!
Michael Gonzalez, Fort Worth, Texas

Felix Trinidad should win this bout, his experience and obvious power will help. But another intrinsic factor is that Tito is a very smart fighter. He is a thinking fighter on his feet. Review his past fights. Watch him in action and you'll see what I mean.
Ric Rodriguez, Buffalo, N.Y.

I think Trinidad will take him in the later rounds. Vargas will make it a brawl, but Trinidad's punches will take its toll, and from there send Vargas to the canvas.
Ashley Ogletree, Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

I don't think that Trinidad has what it takes to even beat Oscar De La Hoya that fight was pretty upsetting first of all. I think that Vargas is gonna give Tito some chin music come Saturday. Let's see if he'll get up from this one. And even if Trinidad does win this fight, he is crazy for thinking he could even go up against someone like Roy Jones Jr.
Manuel, Milwaukee

Tito is a better boxer, and also can punch. Vargas in all his fights takes a lot of punches. Everybody knows that Vargas can take punches, but Tito's power in that weight division is too much. I think that it will end like the David Reid fight. Vargas winning the first few rounds because his speed, but in the end Trinidad will prevail.
Jose Flores, Juncos, Puerto Rico

Tito all the way! The best fighter in the game, nothing more to say.
Jermaine Wright, Aurora, Colo.

This contest has the makings of one of boxing's classics. I see Trinidad taking most of the early rounds perhaps scoring a knockdown, due to reach and sharp punching. However, Vargas should solve this puzzle by the latter rounds with a sustained body attack and superior foot movement (ala Leonard vs. Hearns I). The pick here, Vargas in a split decision.
Richard, Dallas
