Users still baffled by Galatasaray's Top 10 absence

Luis Figo Luis Figo and Real Madrid were No. 1 last week despite a loss to Boca Juniors. AP

CNN and World Soccer magazine release their votes each Monday for the Top 10 football club worldwide, and we want to know your opinion. Below is a selection of some of the best feedback from the last week. Check back next week to see the response to this week's Top 10.

When I open this section, I was surprised: Why is Madrid is on the top if Boca Juniors beat them? I think that Boca must be on the top because it is the best team in the world.
Carlos A. Prina, Argentina

I think your list is not fair. Galatasaray SK is at the top of both the Turkish and Champions Leagues. They are also winners of UEFA and Super Cups last season, but I see disappointing Lazio and Leeds in Top 10. Tell us, please, is this list really fair?
Cenk Yavuz, Sakarya, Turkey

I think that it's about time that Manchester United drops in the rankings. Losing at home means that they have lost their edge. Maybe Roma should move up in the rankings now.
John Evankovich, Pittsburgh, Pa.

We won the Super Cup and we are going to represent Europe in the World Club Championships with Real Madrid. Where is Galatasaray in your list?
Mert Sargut, Istanbul, Turkey

Who came up with this top ten list? Was it Americans? Hey, watch Monday Night Football and stick to the NFL. Galatasaray of Turkey won the European Super Cup by taking out your No. 1-ranked Real Madrid just 4 months ago (and your No. 9 in the semifinals of the UEFA cup). Now Galatasaray is the leader of the Champions League group, in which your No. 7 is not in the lead. Oh, sorry, may be you only consider Italian, English and Spanish teams. There are over 40 countries in Europe. Galatasaray currently is a top three team. They know how to win.
Cevdet Ozdemir, Tampa, Fla.

Why are there are nine European teams and one American team in the Top 10? What about Brazil? Where are the great Brazilian clubs? Brazil has the last four world champions. They have been No. 1 in FIFA rankings for five straight years!
Cristiano Ribeiro, Porto Alege, Brazil

Bayer Munich is one of the best teams in the world. I can't understand why this team is not the Top 10.
Juan, Hamburg, Germany

What kind of criteria do you use? I don't see any Brazilian team in the Top 10. In the last 10 years, Brazilian teams have won South American continental cups (Copa Libertadores, Mercosul Cup, etc.). Also, Manchester United was defeated by Vasco da Gama, 3-0, and Corinthians won the world championship title in a competition supported by FIFA. I observe that only after TV broadcastings, Libertadores Cup became a serious competition, with a better control of referees’ action. Thus, Brazilian teams started to participate more actively in this Cup.
Fernando Costa, Brazil

The giants of Europe held supreme with a good win in Europe, a great 3-0 win against a dangerous Celta Vigo and they are up top in the Primera Liga, which is one of the best leagues in Europe after Serie A. Roma is back in the Top 10 after great results in Serie A. I totally agree with the top ten this week!
Roberto Walsh, Johannesburg, South Africa

I don’t think Milan or Leeds deserve to be on the list. For instance, Milan barely made it to the second stage of the Champions League, plus its position in its own league should be considered as a fact. On the other hand, there are many other teams that are a lot better than Leeds United. I not going to use Galatasaray as an example, but you should take South American teams into consideration as well. Thank you.
Tolga Tomar, Istanbul, Turkey
