Reactions: NFL draft

Users weigh in on CNNSI.com mock Draft

The 2001 NFL Draft is nearly here. We wanted to see what you thought of the CNNSI.com Mock Draft. Some of you liked it, others didn't. Read on for a sample of your responses.

I like the NFL Draft projections. However, it is important to note that you left out Steve Hutchinson from the University of Michigan. He is projected in everybody's mock draft from Nos. 10-15. David Terrell to Cleveland at No. 3 is good, and Todd Heap to the Lions will help the Lions have some depth at the TE position to compete with the fragile David Sloan.
Steven Bloom, West Bloomfield, Mich.

David Terrell looks very good. He could be one of the top wide receivers in a few years. The only thing that bothers me is his injury. Is it that bad? If it is, then I would take someone else, like Tomlinson. If the injury is healed or not as bad I would draft him, he will be a solid player for the Browns.
Beau Braden, Berea, Ohio

David Terrell is too big of a risk for the Browns to draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted a center with foot problems and he hasn't been able to play. I think that situation is in the Browns’ mind and don't want to make the same mistake. The Cavs had doctors advise them that the foot wasn't a problem. Also the Browns have young wide outs that need playing time. No Terrells, but they can get by with what they have. Browns have more pressing needs at running back and linemen.
Ron Schroeder, Rocky River, Ohio

Finally, someone is reporting that the Chiefs might be taking Brees. I think that is the case unless their pick gets traded to St. Louis for Green. Then look for the Chiefs to take a RB with their next pick. Brees would be a popular pick with the Chiefs’ fans and so would McAllister. Bennett could cause a little uproar due to the character issues.
Eric, Augusta, Kan.

Much like scouts underestimated Brian Griese, Drew Brees will be the steal of this year's draft. Carolina should take him if he's still around and if he's available at No. 18, the Lions better jump on the chance. Before mid-season, he'll replace Charlie Batch. Having seen the skills of Cade McNown, the Bears would do well to trade him and perhaps a late round pick in order to grab Brees and another quality player.
A. Lee, Detroit

I think you left one guy off your first round that I think will go in it. Despite being one of the shortest guys in the draft, Santana Moss is a playmaker. I think there are a lot of teams out there that could use a guy like him. He is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. So tall or short, I don't care, Santana is a playmaker that I wouldn't pass on if I had a late first round choice!
Shane Sweet, Sterling, Mich.

The Broncos drafting a wide receiver? Last time I checked, the Broncos had the league's best offense ... and the worst defense. The Broncos will most likely go for a defensive player, probably a lineman or back. I can't see the Broncos going for a linebacker, considering they have two Pro-Bowl caliber linebackers in Romanowski and Mobley. They will most likely go for someone to back up Trevor Pryce, or to fill the gaps left by Tyrone Braxton and Steve Atwater.
David Heit, Englewood, Colo.

Your predictions are funny. For real, can you post your actual mock draft? I mean, Hutchinson not being picked in the first round is ridiculous. He is the best guard in the draft. Also, no way five defensive backs will be picked in the first round.
Jack Smith, Chicago

No way are the Chiefs going to pick up Drew Brees in the first round. What a waste! He is a second to third round pick, at best. The Chiefs need a running back with some explosive power and good hands. I see a Deuce McAlister or LaDainian Tomlinson coming here instead.
Mike Strickland, Blue Springs, Mo.

I like the Bears picking Tomlinson in the first round, but in the second round they should make an aggressive run at Shaun Rodgers the DT from Texas. He is a player to build your defensive line around.
Kyle, Chicago
