All NFL Draft, all the time ... users can't get enough

The 2002 NFL Draft is only 12 months away. Time to take a look at the talent. We made our list.

We wanted to know who we left off, who was ranked too high or too low. Keep reading for a sample of your responses.

I believe you guys have Davis from Virginia Tech way to low in the draft. That kid is a threat anytime he touches a ball!
Donnie, Korea

It never ceases to amaze me how NFL scouts place more value on potential than production, as in the case of Texas quarterback Chris Simms and USC quarterback Chris Palmer. If they are as good as the scouts believe them to be, then they should be producing and displaying first-round draft pick numbers every Saturday afternoon. In Simms’ case, he is playing with two great receivers and a talented offensive line and there is no reason for him not to have Heismen-type numbers next year. As for Palmer, he will have to make huge adjustments under a new coach and offensive coordinator -- but if he is as talented as NFL scouts say he is, it shouldn't be a problem. I think of the great NFL talent scouts’ great picks of recent past like Heath Shuler, Rick Mirer, Jim Drunkenmiller and the greatest bust of them all, Ryan Leaf.
Jamal Chappell, Omaha, Neb.

I am sure that it was an oversight, however you left off probably the best tackle in the country off your list, junior Brett Williams (6'5" 315 lbs.).
John Mullen, Orlando

Hmmm, John Henderson. Here's an idea ... before you go down the Tennessee football team recognizing everybody on it's roster, why don't you pull out the '00 Fiesta and '01 Cotton Bowl game films. You'll see Henderson being pushed around and whomever else from Tennessee. Where's John McGraw, Josh Scobey, and Ben Leber of K-State? K-State is always left out of these lists, yet they're good enough to have six, five, six players drafted in the '99, '00, '01 drafts, respectively. Or do I need to mention their performance on the field? Save this e-mail. I will, and I'll recognize your slighting of K-State when these gentleman are drafted.
Mr. K-Stater, Dallas

Of all the linebackers you have possibly being drafted in the first round, I was very disappointed to not see Larry Foote of Michigan. He is a returning All Big-10 selection and possible Butkus Award finalist. He is a very talented and aggressive linebacker and should be considered as a possible first-round pick.
Brian Wietzke, Ann Arbor, Mich.

Let's not forget about Clemson’s defensive end, #98, Nick Eason. At 6-4 and 275 lbs., he is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Quarterbacks ought to watch out.
Abraham Cannon, Greenville, S.C.

I think the first pick will be Chris Simms. It makes perfect sense: first, he is already a God around here for what he did to the Aggies last year. Second, the Houston Texans will lose a lot no matter what, so you might as well sell tickets and no one would do that like him. Third, his potential is frightening. If he decides to come out early just to play for the Texans, he would be bigger than Nolan Ryan and Earl Campbell put together!
Kelly Bolin, Houston

I highly doubt that Carson Palmer will even get drafted. Besides Vick, the quarterbacks coming out of college are not good right away, and Palmer stinks.
Jeff, Eden Prairie, Minn.

Rocky Calmus should be the top linebacker picked, not only because of his ability to play linebacker, but his leadership ability on and off the field is unbelievable. If you ever get around him for any time at all you will find out that he is a true winner.
Steve Marcum, Tulsa, Okla.

I think that the Texans should take Eric Crouch, the quarterback from Nebraska, if he goes to the NFL. Crouch will be a perfect pick because he is a superb athlete. He can run and he has a cannon for an arm. Crouch would lead the Houston Texans to a good record and I believe he would be the quarterback of the future.
Corey Yesavage, Clayton, N.C.

I think Saleem Rasheed will move up into the Top 10, and also Freddie Milons will be a mid-first round pick. At the tight end position the first taken should be Terry Jones Jr. of Alabama, and Kindal Morehead should get consideration from the defensive line.
Kenneth Simpson, Birmingham, Ala.

There is no way that Phil's son is a top 10 pick. What is his record as a starter anyway? All he has ever been is hype.
Eric, Norman, Okla.
