Chat: Bill Fennelly Iowa State coach chats Thursday at 4 p.m. ETPosted: Tuesday November 13, 2001 10:59 AMUpdated: Tuesday November 13, 2001 10:59 AM
Fennelly, who has never had a losing season in 13 seasons as a head coach, has won at least 25 games in each of the last four years. He has led the Cyclones to three consecutive NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen berths, including an Elite Eight appearance in 1999. Fennelly’s Cyclones captured the only league championships in program history, repeating as the Big 12 Conference Tournament champions in 2001 and earning the regular-season crown in 2000. Iowa State is ranked as high as second, no lower than eighth, in the preseason polls. Senior center Angie Welle has been named a Naismith Award pre-season candidate. The Cyclones have the makings of an outstanding practice squad, which includes two players sitting out after transferring, Anne O'Neil from Illinois and Nina Smith from Wisconsin. Both were starters at their former schools. Join our chat room during the chat, and feel free to submit a question in advance below.
